  • Single, EP or album?
You don't choose the release type yourself. The builder sets it from the number of tracks: 1–3 tracks is a Single, 4–6 is an EP, and 7 or more is an Album. Add or remove tracks and the type updates. Tracks Release type 1–3 Single 4–6 EP 7 or more Album The type shows on the release card, for example Single or EP under the cover on the Releases page. • Previously released music, ISRCs and UPCs
An ISRC identifies a single recording, and a UPC identifies a release. You don't need either to release new music: we assign them for free when your release is approved. If a track is already out somewhere, mark it Previously released and enter its existing ISRC so its streams stay linked. What ISRCs and UPCs are ISRC (International Standard Recording Code): one per recording, for example QT8JA2500001. Stores use it to count streams and connect the same recording acrossFew readers
  • Content ID and social platforms
TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube Content ID and SoundCloud can recognise your recording in other people's videos and uploads and pay you when it's used. You choose whether each release goes to them in Content ID & social in the builder. You must make this choice before you can submit. Only opt in if you hold the rights to everything in the track, including every sample. Make your choice Open your release in the builder and scroll to Review & submit. Click the **ContenFew readers
  • Check and submit your release
Before you can submit, every Preflight check must pass, you must answer any Spotify profile protection question, and you must make your Content ID & social choice. Then click Submit for review at the bottom of the builder. Open Preflight In the builder, scroll to Review & submit. The Preflight card shows how many checks pass, for example "20 of 21 checks pass", or "Everything checks out" when you're ready. Click the card to see the list. ![The Preflight diaFew readers
  • Cover songs, samples and remixes
You can release covers, tracks with samples and remixes, as long as you have the rights to what you use. In the builder, mark a cover or interpolation as Cover and link the original song so its writers are credited. Samples must be cleared. Remixes must credit the remixer. • Choose stores and countries
By default, your release goes to every store we deliver to, in every country. You can change both in the Review & submit section of the builder: Stores to pick specific stores, and Territories to block countries or release only in some. For most releases, leave both as they are. Pick specific stores Open your release in the builder and scroll to Review & submit. Click the All stores card. Choose Pick stores. • Choose a release date
Pick your release date in the Release section of the builder. Fridays are highlighted because that's the industry release day, when stores refresh their new-music playlists. You can pick any date, but leave enough time for review and delivery. Set the date Open your release in the builder. Click the Release date field. Pick a day in the calendar. • Titles, versions and featured artists
Stores are strict about how titles and artist names are written. This article explains where each piece of information goes in the builder so your release shows correctly and isn't sent back. Release title and version line Title: the name of the release, exactly as it should appear in stores. Version line: only for releases that are a version of something, such as "Remixes", "Versions" or "Deluxe". Leave it empty for a normal release. On a one-track single, the release titlFew readers
  • Add songwriter, producer and performer credits
Every track needs at least one songwriter (a composer or lyricist), one producer and one performer. You add them in the Credits part of each track. Stores use these credits, and a track without them can't be submitted. Open a track's credits Open your release in the builder and go to Tracks. • Create a release, step by step
You build a release on one page with three sections: Release, Tracks and Review & submit. Everything saves as you type, so you can leave and come back at any time.
