Playlist pitching
Playlist pitching for AMM Distro releases is handled with your manager, not through a self-serve tool. The Playlist Pitching tool you see under Tools is marked Coming soon and can't be used yet.
How pitching works today
- Talk to your manager. Release planning, including pitching, is part of the support you get from your AMM Distro manager. Tell them your release date and plans as early as you can.
- Pitch to Spotify's editors yourself. In Spotify for Artists you can pitch one unreleased song to Spotify's editorial team. This is Spotify's own feature and it's free. Spotify recommends pitching at least 7 days before release day, so set your release date with enough time.
What's included for your releases depends on your agreement. If you're not sure, ask your manager or contact support.
The Playlist Pitching tool
Under Tools, Playlist Pitching shows a Coming soon badge. Its Preview page describes what's planned. To hear when it's available, use the email link on that page.
See your playlist placements
Placements show up in your analytics:
- Analytics → Engagement shows playlist placements reported by stores, when they're available.
- Analytics → Spotify shows plays from playlists people picked your track for, and from Spotify's algorithmic playlists.
- Consumption → Source of stream shows where plays started, when stores report it.
Common questions
Can I pay to get on playlists?
Don't pay anyone for guaranteed placements or streams. Services that promise them often use fake plays, which can be flagged as artificial streams and put your releases and account at risk. See Artificial streaming.
