Tax forms on ANTHM

Before ANTHM can pay you, we need an approved tax form on file: a W-9 if you're a US person or US-registered entity, or a W-8BEN if you're an individual who isn't a US person. You keep earning while you wait, but nothing can be paid out until your form is approved.

Open Tax forms from the menu under your name at the bottom of the left menu. It appears when your account can receive earnings on ANTHM.

File your form

  1. Click File your tax form.
  2. Under Which form applies to you, choose W-9 (US citizen, resident or US-registered entity) or W-8BEN (individual who isn't a US person).
  3. Fill in Your details: your Legal name as it appears on your tax return, first and last name, date of birth and, optionally, phone and business name.
    • W-9: choose your Federal tax classification and Taxpayer ID type (SSN, EIN or ITIN), then enter the 9-digit number.
    • W-8BEN: choose your Country of tax residence, enter your foreign taxpayer ID, and claim treaty benefits if they apply.
  4. Enter your Permanent residence address. It can't be a PO box or an in-care-of address. Untick My mailing address is the same if you get post somewhere else.
  5. Check What we will withhold. It shows the US federal withholding your form will produce on each kind of payment.
  6. Under Certification, tick the box to sign the form electronically.
  7. Click Submit for review.

Choosing between the W-9 and the W-8BEN

You'll see "Tax form submitted for review". Your taxpayer ID is stored encrypted and never shown again in full, not to you and not to our staff. The page only shows the last four digits.

Form statuses

Status

What it means

Not submitted

We hold no tax form for you. Payouts stay blocked until one is approved.

In review

We've received it and are reviewing it. We'll email you when it's approved.

Approved

Your form is on file and in force.

Rejected

We couldn't accept the form. The reason is under Why this was rejected. Fix it and file again.

Expired

The form is past its validity, so 30% is withheld again. File a new one.

A W-8BEN expires at the end of the third calendar year after you sign it. We'll ask you to file again before then.

Withholding

  • With an approved W-9, no US federal tax is withheld.
  • With a W-8BEN, withholding depends on the kind of payment and your country. Payments for creator campaigns and agency commission are withheld at 30% for every country. Over-withheld tax can be recovered on a US tax return.

The What we will withhold section shows the rates before you submit.

Businesses you manage

If you manage a business on ANTHM, for example an agency, money it earns is reported under the business's own tax ID. Under Entities you administer, click File next to the business to file its form.

Getting your year-end tax forms by email

Under Electronic delivery of tax forms, click Consent to electronic delivery to get your year-end tax form by email instead of by post. Without consent, a paper copy is posted by 31 January.

Common questions

Do I lose my earnings while my form is in review?

I need to change my form.
