# Smart links and pre-saves

A smart link is one page at anthm.link that lists your release on every store it's on. Before release day it leads with a Spotify pre-save. Smart links are shared between ANTHM and AMM Distro: a link you make or change in one app shows up in the other.

## Where to find your smart links

* **In ANTHM:** open **All apps** in the left menu and choose **Smart Links**. Each release's project also has a **Links & pre-saves** tab.
* **In AMM Distro:** go to **Marketing** and open **Promo Links**.

When a release is approved in AMM Distro and has a UPC, its smart link is created for you automatically. Most of the time there's nothing to set up.

## Make a smart link

1. On **Smart Links**, click **New smart link**.
2. Under **Source**, choose:
   * **Your release**: pick one of your releases. The list shows releases that have a UPC and don't have a link yet.
   * **Paste a UPC**: enter a 12–14 digit UPC and click **Look up**. This works for any release on Spotify, Apple Music or Deezer.
3. Check the stores that were found. Each store shows where its link came from: **Distributor**, **Catalog** or **Search**.
4. Choose the page address: **From the title**, or **Custom URL** (lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens).
5. Click **Create link**.

You'll see "Smart link created". Each release can have one smart link.

If you see "No store has this UPC yet", the release isn't on stores yet. Make the link from the release once it's live, or wait for the automatic link.

## Manage a link

![A smart link with its stores, the Copy and Analytics buttons, the URL pencil, the Published switch, the theme choice and Refresh](https://ammdistro.com/helpdesk/anthm-smart-links-card.webp =1200xauto)

1. **New smart link** makes another link.
2. **Copy** copies the link. **Open** shows the page as fans see it.
3. **Analytics** shows visits and store clicks (see below).
4. The pencil next to the URL changes the address.
5. **Published** turns the page on or off. An unpublished page can't be opened and doesn't collect visits.
6. **Auto**, **Light** and **Dark** set the page theme. **Auto** follows each fan's device.
7. **Refresh** checks the stores again now.

Under the store list, a status line shows "All stores linked" or which stores it's still waiting on, and when it checks next. Links are checked automatically: often around release day, then less often as time goes on. You only need **Refresh** if you want to check straight away.

To delete a link, click the bin icon and confirm. The page stops working for anyone who has the link, and its view and click counts are lost.

### Change the URL

* A link that was made automatically can have its URL changed **once**. The pencil says "Change URL (once)".
* A link you made yourself can be changed again.

In both cases the old URL stops working when you save, so change it before you share the link widely. If the URL was already changed once, you'll see "This link's URL has already been changed once."

## Pre-saves before release day

Until the release is out, the page shows "Out" and the release date at the top, and leads with a Spotify **Pre-save** button. When the release is being delivered to other stores, they're shown as "Coming soon".

When a fan taps **Pre-save**, Spotify asks them to allow access. When they come back, the page says "Back from Spotify. If you allowed access, [title] is added to your library on [date]." The button then reads **Pre-save again**.

The release counts as out from midnight US Eastern time on the release date. From then on the store buttons fill in as each store's link is found.

On a release's project, the **Links & pre-saves** tab shows **Spotify pre-save on** when pre-save is set up. If a release isn't out yet and pre-save isn't on, click **Turn on pre-save**.

## Read the analytics

Click **Analytics** on a link, or open the project's **Links & pre-saves** tab.

![Smart link analytics with views, unique visitors, store clicks, click-through rate and the daily chart](https://ammdistro.com/helpdesk/anthm-smart-link-analytics.webp =1200xauto)

* **Views** and **Unique visitors**: page visits in the range you picked (**Last 7 days**, **Last 30 days** or **Last 90 days**).
* **Store clicks**: taps through to a store.
* **Click-through rate**: the share of visitors who opened a store.
* **Clicks by store**, **Top referrers**, **Top countries**, **Top cities** and **Devices** show where fans went and where they came from.

**Top referrers** uses the `utm_source` on the link when there is one, otherwise the site the visitor came from. To see which posts bring fans in, add a tag to the link you post, for example `anthm.link/your-song?utm_source=instagram`.

### Fan privacy

The first time a fan opens the page, they're asked whether to allow analytics. Until they choose, only anonymous counts are kept. If they decline, nothing about their visit is recorded. City-level numbers only come from fans who allowed analytics.

## Common questions

### A store is missing from my link.

The link keeps checking until every store is found. Click **Refresh** to check now. If a store still doesn't show a few days after release, contact us.

### Can I make a smart link for someone else's release?

Yes. Choose **Paste a UPC**. The release must already be on Spotify, Apple Music or Deezer.

### Does a pre-save mean the fan saved my song?

Not always. The fan has to allow access when Spotify asks. ANTHM can't confirm whether they did, so a pre-save tap isn't proof of a save.

### Who can change smart links?

Team members with the admin or member role. Viewers can see links but get "Viewers cannot change smart links" if they try to edit one.
